Much more than just another freeware bulk image resizing tool, Web Resizer is the professional image manipulation and processing utility that web and systems administrators everywhere have been waiting for.

A tiny 2Mb download and a quick, no-frills install reveals some serious functionality packed into a one-size-fits-all window. Use the simple directory browser to select the folder you want to work with, choose the filetype and destination, and then take a closer look at some of the things Web Resizer lets you do.

Before you start working with the image manipulation features, check out what you can do just with filenames - rename, add prefix and suffix, and re-number. And when it comes to manipulating the images themselves, we can't remember seeing so many useful functions crammed on to one screen - many of them features you'd expect to see on fully-fledged commercial graphics software, like resolution control, color depth, brightness, contrast, sharpen and rotate. Even text watermarks can be inserted with options to fine-tune font, alignment and transparency, and to set a drop shadow.

Web Resizer ships with an impressive eleven resampling filters, including standard ones like bicubic and linear, and also more advanced filters like Hermite, Lanczos3 and Mitchell. Two options to convert color values to black and white or sepia complete Web Resizer's outstanding array of professional image manipulation capabilities.

Usually when I write these reviews, the first thing I look at is the help file - usually a pretty good initial indication of how well the program has been thought through and what features it has. But with Web Resizer, the interface was so simple I forgot my golden rule, which is just as well, because Web Resizer is one of the very few programs which is so simple and easy to use, it doesn't have a help file. It does exactly what it says on the tin.

Web Resizer was made to convert and downscale common graphic format such as JPEG, PNG, WMF, TGA and so on… to standard web graphic formats i.e. JPEG and PNG for browsing friendly size.

When you are using this kind of software (image viewer or image resizer or some kind), perhaps you have experienced that once you select a folder it contains many big images, your application is not responding or your application is freezing.

Possibly you have a lot of Mega pixels images inside the selected folder and your application tries to load all those images. It takes a very long time even if you have a fast PC.
