Bundling with an impressive set of default plugins, including Vorbis, Ogg, AAC DFS, FLAC and more, MediaMonkey is also fully compatible with all Winamp 2 plugins.

Network support is solid, with options to set proxies and servers. MediaMonkey uses the FreeDB server, and lets you choose between CDDB or HTTP. Podcast management is excellent, letting you choose when and where you want your files downloaded and how many episodes to keep, as well as useful features like tag resolution and ratings management.

AutoDJ is a simple but effective touch, automatically keeping your 'Now Playing' playlist stacked with up to 10 tracks, and avoiding those inopportune pauses in the evening's entertainment.

Customizable filters, a file monitor, VirtualCD, the most comprehensive search facility we've seen yet, and a host of other features put MediaMonkey firmly in the first division for music management software.

If you still want more, consider upgrading to MediaMonkey Gold, the commercial release. This adds a file monitor to autoupdate the library, on-the-fly track conversion during device synchronization, an autoplaylist feature which automatically creates playlists depending on your mood, and best of all, a sleep timer to fade out and switch off at bedtime.
